We built Piccy as a web app first, on purpose. The whole point is that your guests never need to download anything, so the web dashboard always came first and the idea of a native app sat further down the list. But hosts kept asking for one, mostly for the same reason: setting up an event from a phone browser at the venue, five minutes before people start arriving, was never quite as fast as it should have been.

So the iOS app is out now, and it's built entirely for you as the organiser rather than for your guests, who still don't need to install a thing.

What it actually does

Create an event and get your QR code in a minute or two, right from your phone, without opening a laptop. Hold your phone up and share it, or pull up the link if it's easier for whoever you're talking to. Watch photos land in the gallery as they're uploaded, with a notification the moment a new one comes in if you want them.

The bit we're most pleased with is guest management. You can see everyone who's joined your event, what they've shared, and remove anything you'd rather not keep. If someone's causing a problem, you can block them from uploading anything further without it turning into a whole conversation. None of that existed when Piccy was web only, and it's the kind of thing that only matters once, right up until the moment it really does.

Guests can still leave messages alongside their photos, the same digital guestbook that's always been part of Piccy, and you can save the ones you love straight to your camera roll or download the whole event as a zip whenever you're ready.

Guests still just scan and go

None of this changes what your guests see. They still scan a QR code, open a page in their own browser, and upload photos with no app, no login, and no account to create. That's stayed exactly the same and isn't going to change. The app is entirely about giving you, the person actually running the event, a faster way to manage it than pulling up a website on your phone.
